The interview below aired Sunday on CNN, a conversation between a CNN anchor, Brandon Stanton from Humans of New York, and a young refugee woman was was denied access to the US. In every conflict we face, whether it’s as large as a war or as small as a friend-to-friend, colleague-to-colleague conflict, we must act with compassion, meaning that we remember that there are always human lives at the center. Persons made in the image of God. Persons with families, dreams, talents, and struggles. To love the way Christ calls us means that even if we disagree, even if we don’t share the same opinion, we never dismiss. We listen to the stories, we grieve with injustices, we celebrate with successes.

Rise above fear, friends. The founder of the Methodist movement, John Wesley, once challenged his listeners, “Though we cannot think alike, may we not love alike?”
